The Hertz Foundation Board of Directors hosted a gathering for Fellows and Friends at the Claremont Hotel on March 27, 2008 prior to the spring Interviewer and Board meetings in Berkeley, California. Dinner speaker Dr. Steven Chu, Nobel Prize Laureate in Physics, 1997 and Director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Labs, discussed climate change and new technologies being developed at LBNL. UC Berkeley Dean of the Graduate School, Andrew Szeri, spoke a few words about the graduate experience. The 165 guests, 84 of which are Hertz Fellows, included the Hertz Board of Directors, Hertz Fellowship Interviewers, Nobel Laureate Charles Townes and his wife Frances, and many friends of the Foundation.
